The Buchanan Family (ブチャナンの家族 Bukyanan no Kazoku) are an illustrious and rather concealed family situated in Sole City at the present time. They are noted for their significant levels of magical ability, and supposedly "dabble" in the darker arts.

Founded in the times of Zeref, during the times in when lowly lords would rule the world with an iron fist, and crime would be wide-spread and unpunished, a man by the name, Buchanan would be one of the few to punish criminals and bring about a revolution that eventually brought down Zeref and isolated him unto Tenrou Island.
