So, for some reason or another, there are people on this wiki who still like Fairy Tail, and are excited for the possible timeskip that's coming up. And, if I had to be entirely honest, I'm a little excited too. I've been rewatching old Fairy Tail eps and trying to find out what I liked about the damned series in the first place, and maybe it's nostalgia, or maybe he was just a better writer back when it started, but early Fairy Tail had a kind of charm that the most recent chapters (read: anything from the middle of the Grand Magic Games arc and on) lack.
It still had its moments we could definitely call 'asspulls'; definitely counting Natsu somehow learning to stop Totomaru's pyrokinesis in the middle of a fight as this (and let's not even discuss him somehow not thinking during his fight with Cobra). Hell, this was a point in the series where Natsu and Erza couldn't solve every friggin' problem just by existing. José fucking kicked Erza's ass, and Natsu was pushed to the bring against Gajeel and only recovered through eating fire, not 'Nakama' power. MAKAROV actually had to step in and be useful, unlike, say, against Zancrow, where apparently being old and experienced means NOTHING against an insane 'God' Slayer, or how Makarov lost to Hades, but somehow his less experienced and weaker 'children' could kick Hades' ass (granted, the Exceeds had to destroy his heart...which in and of itself was a WTF moment). Hell, LAXUS would have been a better choice than Natsu and the gang to beat Hades.
But enough about the past. This blog is focusing on Fairy Tail's future. Per showed me this image she saw floating around tumblr:
This is (allegedly) Natsu's new design after the timeskip; he doesn't look MUCH older, maybe only a few years, but I do kind of like it, if this is the new design. When I saw this image, it got me thinking: how WILL Hiro handle this timeskip? We already saw what happened with the last time he tried a timeskip, it....failed bad. Let's take a look at my early, VERY BAD reviews, for even then, I wasn't too pleased with that moment]. Friggin' yikes those sucked. Anyway, yeah, given Hiro's track record with doing timeskips, it's safe to say most of us are probably nervous that he won't handle this one correctly either. But let's assume he does handle it right; Fairy Tail has disbanded, everyone is going their separate ways to train for the coming battles against Zeref and Acnologia. We, the audience, have found out that Natsu is actually E.N.D. (it was never any surprise), and the only thing that remains is where the manga takes this. Acnologia and Zeref are still out there, and now that we've finally found out where the dragons went (and boy was it disappointing), we need to see where Hiro will take his characters and the story itself.
Natsu finally has the motivation to actually mature a little bit; he saw his father get killed right in front of him, and his entire guild is now destroyed and disbanded. The Salamander of Fairy Tail is just a lone, wandering dragon now, and given how badly I'm sure he wants revenge, I want to see him mature as a person. If he still comes back as the same idiot we've always known, I'm going to have some complaints.
Aren't we also still waiting for the mystery behind Layla to finally be revealed?
This is the woman that passed away on the same day the Dragons disappeared (....yeah, they totally disappeared. I don't know where they could possibly be.) I highly doubt this is coincidental (and if it is, Hiro, fuck you). This is one of those plot points we still need to see resolved.
I've rambled long enough, and this blog hasn't gone much of anywhere. I'll leave the rest to you guys; where do you think the timeskip will go, if there even is one? Will it change Fairy Tail for the better, or worse? What do you think?
