Victory and New Beginnings
So, first, a toast! To talk pages winning! Now, I have a proposal. Most wikis come with a forums section, to be used for discussions and things like that. While we're just a fanon wiki, I actually think it might be a good idea for us to start using the forums when we admins make announcements, rather than our own personal blogs. The forums come with a highlight option that can be used in the alerts (the fucking bell thing) to alert everyone on the wiki at once to a new thread. This way, it has a higher chance of reaching people on the wiki when an announcement is made, rather than "Oh, Per made a blog. Now swim through everything to find it." What do you think?—Mina Țepeș 07:12, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
- Excellente! Then I shall begin enabling them!—Mina Țepeș 19:42, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
- I just think it'd be good for announcements because I entirely missed Per's blog about the first voting session, and thus was blindsided by an update I did not expect. So I went really simple.—Mina Țepeș 19:51, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
- If the others don't agree to it, I won't force them to be used — you know, like Per forced us to use message walls, I am giving her full blame on that — but unlike message walls, I think this is where threads can come in pretty handy. Especially with the highlight feature, so once again, everyone on the wiki will receive an alert in the upper right corner when a new announcement is made. No excuse to say "I didn't know" or "I was unaware".—Mina Țepeș 19:55, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
Oh I am fully aware of the situation, but I believe allowing the vote the first time was the mistake to begin with, and I still blame Per for the fact that the message walls even happened. Don't believe for a second I misunderstand anything, I'm just still angry at her for allowing it. The fact that that shit was annoying as hell, blew my e-mail up like Hiroshima, etc (seriously, whenver you, Ash, or Per got a message on the wall, my e-mail had a heart attack), irritates me. Mercifully, they're gone now. And as far as announcements go, these should be able to take the place of blogs, since, again, not everyone is gonna see a blog announcement. A thread announcement on the forum, however, would be visible to everyone and the only people who miss it would have to have actually ignored it — by which point it will then have been their fault. Y'know?—Mina Țepeș 20:06, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
- I know, but I'm super confident in the forum threads since I've seen them work before. Granted, on my wiki, we have considerably less people, none of the standard grade idiots that this wiki seems to attract in the form of new users (rude that may be, but correct in essentials it is), so that may also play a factor into it. Regardless, they are there, and on the rare occasion I ever have to make an announcement, I will be using the forum threads as opposed to blogs, even if it's just to announce my retirement in years to come.—Mina Țepeș 20:21, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
Permission on an inactive user?
SereneDreams is currently inactive on this wiki, and I was wondering if I could use one of her magics. Since she wouldn't be able to respond of course, I was wondering if I could get permission from you? The magic is Ancient Archive - Chelia-chan 18:46, February 13, 2016 (UTC)
